The extra popular MAIJA series is made from washed linen-Tencel material. This special material which was innovated by Lapuan Kankurit is extremely absorbent, lightweight and quick to dry. Using the MAIJA products in the kitchen makes complete sense as they possess the qualities you need for the jobs they do; and an added plus to their quick dry and ultra absorbency is that they are also hygienic to use. Made of comfortable and breathable natural fibres: flax, Tencel and cotton. The warp is made of Tencel Lyocell and cotton fibre and the weft is made of linen yarn. Our linen, grown with the power of rainwater in Central Europe, is 100 % traceable and Masters of Linen–certified. Tencel is a European invention, a responsibly produced wood pulp fibre. Its production is FSC–certified which guarantees that the wood used as raw material in the production is responsibly sourced.
The yarns have been spun and dyed in the EU area according to the REACH regulations.
Our own production in Lapua, Finland, enables us to develop new textile innovations and to combine the best materials together, of which this textile is a soft example. We want to be responsible for the production of our products ourselves, starting from the yarn all the way to the finished product. This is why the most significant part of the production is done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland.
The product design, material purchases, loom programming and warping as well as the pre-work stages, weaving and fabric inspection are done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland. The sewing is done in our subsidiary’s own sewing department in Kaunas, Lithuania, or in our own sewing department in Lapua. The product finishing is done in our finishing plant in Lapua, Finland.
Delicate laundry wash at 60°C in plenty of water. Wash separately. 40°C is also an adequate wash temperature. Do not use softner and bleach. Normal spin cycle. Reshape whilst damp. Linen fibres may come off the product during the wash. Check the lint filter before and after washing. The colour of natural linen becomes lighter with washing. We do not recommend tumble dryer.
