Lapuan Kankurit Outlet offers our entire wide selection at factory outlet prices, including new arrivals, campaigns, special offers, and second-quality items. In addition to textiles, the store features delightful products ranging from books and baskets to cosmetics and ceramics. Our store also houses the Avara Art Rental Service, where you can borrow art to brighten up your home or purchase it for yourself!
The awarded outlet store was designed by the Japanese design company IMA Design. Our Outlet store has been renovated within Cultural Center Vanha Paukku, in the former tool workshop of the Lapua Cartridge Factory. The tragic explosion accident at the cartridge factory in April 1976 led to the factory relocating further from residential areas, and the old premises were repurposed as a cultural center. Today, within the red-brick walls of the former factory, you’ll find various shops, cafés, a cinema, an amateur theater, a library, and the Lapua Art Museum. The premises also house a music school and a community college—as well as the Lapua Cartridge Factory’s Historical Museum. During the summer, visitors can enjoy scenic river cruises, which offer insight into the history of the area.
Just a 30-minute drive away in Seinäjoki, you’ll find the world-famous Aalto Center, a modern architectural complex designed by Alvar Aalto. In addition to the stunning Aalto Center in Seinäjoki, other attractions near our store include Kyrö Distillery in Isokyrö, Härmä’s PowerPark amusement park, and Kuortane Sports Institute.
Lapua Outlet holds Sustainable Travel Finland Label and was nominated as the Shop of the year 2024 by Finnish Visualists Association.

The Culture Center Vanha Paukku
Our outlet store in the centre of the city of Lapua is located in the cultural centre Vanha Paukku. We’re using the former tool factory premises of Lapua Ammunition Factory (Lapuan Patruunatehdas), a company that owned and used the buildings until a dramatic accident took place in the factory premises in April 1976.
The former factory complex nowadays houses a number of shops and entrepreneurs, a 200 seat Alajoki auditorium, meeting rooms, a cafeteria, a movie theatre, a local theatre group, the Lapua Art Museum and the municipal library. The factory surroundings also offer a home for the Music Institute and the Adult Education Centre of Lapua – and of course the historical museum of the Lapua Ammunition Factory.
In summer it is possible to hop on a river cruise with the local ferry company. The cruise takes its passengers on a journey through the area’s history and surroundings. While visiting the region of South Ostrobothnia, the Aalto Centre in the city of Seinäjoki is worth seeing. The complex is a marvellous entity of public buildings designed by Finland’s most famous architect, Alvar Aalto.

Factory Tour in Lapua Weaving Mill

-We offer a rare opportunity to see how the fabric is created from thread to a finished product.

Art rental shop Avara has curated a great collection from amazing artists for us: we have works from Laura Annala, Teemu Mäki, Minna Rajala, Johanna Sippola, Hanna Keltto-Koski – just to name a few.
