Description
Fascinated by the zero waste ideology we are continuously working for improving the effective use of raw materials in our own production line. For years we’ve been weaving all our products to the desired length to minimize the loss of material, but still while weaving and sewing some products, we end up with some extra fabric being cut off. Our linen raw material comes all the way from the flax fields of professionals in Europe to be elaborately woven into a glorious linen fabric in our weaving mill in Finland. That is a journey we value and are not willing to waste. Therefore we designed a solution. ZERO WASTE – linen bags are sewn from a variable sortiment of our excess fabrics made out of 100% washen linen. Please note, that being made out of excess fabrics ZERO WASTE linen bags can all be different colour and are produced only when there is excess material available.
Traceable natural materials
We have used Masters of Linen–certified 100 % linen yarn for both the warp and weft, spun from fully traceable long staple flax. We love flax as a material, for it is a durable, comfortable and environmentally friendly fibre.
Our flax grows with the power of rainwater in the temperate climate of central Europe, needing no irrigation. The yarns have been spun and dyed in the EU area according to the REACH regulations.
Did you know that linen is an ecological choice also because the dirt comes off it even when washed at 40 degrees Celsius?
Own transparent production
The most significant part of the production is done by the fourth generation of weavers in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland. We want to be responsible for the production of our products ourselves, starting from the yarn all the way to the finished product.
The product design, material purchases, loom programming and warping as well as the pre-work stages, weaving and fabric inspection are done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland. The sewing is done in our subsidiary’s own sewing department in Kaunas, Lithuania, or in our own sewing department in Lapua. The product finishing is done in our finishing plant in Lapua, Finland.
Thanks to owning our production, we are able to design our products and processes so that our ecological footprint stays as small as possible.
