Description

The VIIVA pattern is a design classic by Dora Jung from 1959. Jung (1906–1980) was a bold innovator, a pioneer of textile art, and a developer of weaving techniques, with an exceptional sense of aesthetics, colors, and shapes. Her designs garnered significant awards both nationally and internationally. Jung was inspired by the idea of creating a more beautiful everyday life for Finnish homes, and her patterns were woven at the Tampella factory into almost hand-made products. Now, more than 60 years later, Dora Jung’s linen textiles are being revived at Lapuan Kankurit weaving mill, perfectly suited for both everyday and festive table settings today.

Meet the designer

DORA JUNG (1906–1980)

In her day, 1906-1980, DORA JUNG was known as a bold reformist and a pioneer in crafts and arts. She developed her own weaving techniques - with a unique sense of aesthetics, colours, and shapes and a perfect hand with the finest linens. Her designs garnered important awards both in Finland and abroad.

Her vision of beautiful everyday objects in Finnish homes inspired her to design linen tablecloths that stand the test of time. Now Dora Jung's fabulous and exquisite linen textiles are reborn in the work of Lapuan Kankurit.

Sustainable production

Developing the best textiles in the world is our passion. The world is changing, and Lapuan Kankurit has the courage to develop entirely new products and invest in our own production.

Our top designs are woven in Lapua, in the middle of the Ostrobothnian fields. Our own mill, the young, open-minded professionals, and the experienced older craftsmen who work there allow us to make our products a little better every day.

We use only natural raw materials. We know where our materials come from, and we also know all the working stages from thread to finished product. This produces a result we can be proud of.

Linen

Linen is one of our favourite materials. It is ecological, comfortable on the skin and easy to use. Linen absorbs moisture effectively and the textiles also dry fast!

The Masters of Linen flax we use, is grown by rainwater in France, Netherlands and Belgium, requiring no irrigation or much fertilizing.
