Description
The stunning RUUT pattern was designed by the award-winning ceramic artist Heini Riitahuhta. Heini Riitahuhta works as an independent artist in the Arabia Art Department. Her inspiration stems from childhood memories of her grandmother and her garden, where she was surrounded by the smells of the earth and the scent of flowers. Her beloved RUUT designs run parallel to her ceramic works, as she uses the same hexagonal shapes that are also part of the ceramic works in the Arabianranta courtyard.
The pattern of the RUUT fabric weaves the entire arc of life. The design gradually developed over the years, in parallel with the growth of Heini Riitahuhta’s children. “I wanted the RUUT tablecloth to be fun, like a patchwork quilt, just like life itself. I drew themes related to flowers and growth to symbolize the shared life journey of a mother and daughter. I see the growth of an important person as blossoming flowers—and there are also parts that I can’t even fully understand.”
The RUUT pattern was selected as the Textile of the Year in 2015 by the Avotakka interior design magazine.

Own transparent production
Our own production in Lapua, Finland, enables us to develop new textile innovations and to combine the best materials together, of which this textile is a soft example. We want to be responsible for the production of our products ourselves, starting from the yarn all the way to the finished product. This is why the most significant part of the production is done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland.
The product design, material purchases, loom programming and warping as well as the pre-work stages, weaving and fabric inspection are done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland.
