Description

The Lapuan Kankurit TSAVO scarf is designed by design company Mifuko. Lapuan Kankurit and Mifuko share the same values when we consider the traceability and sustainable development in our products. Mifuko is another Finnish company that produces beautiful Kenyan Kiondo baskets as they employ over 600 women in Kenya! Mifuko is a certified member of the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization). Both companies are supportive of women in Finland and around the globe through their work, know-how and use of Finnish Design. Made from 100% washed linen, it is intentionally wrinkled in its relaxed, casual and classical material state. TSAVO scarf is lightweight yet large enough to cover your neck and shoulders.

MIFUKO

The founders of design company Mari Martikainen and Minna Impiö combine elements from both Scandinavian and African culture and nature in their design. For them working as a designer means fun and ethically sustainable co-operation between different countries, companies and cultures. Textile designers Mari and Minna have graduated from Aalto University of Art and Design Helsinki.

Mifuko brought colours of Kenya into Finland and designed for Lapuan Kankurit a bright linen collection TSAVO and MERU year 2017. Co-operation has continued ever since.

Sustainable production

Developing the best textiles in the world is our passion. The world is changing, and Lapuan Kankurit has the courage to develop entirely new products and invest in our own production.

Our top designs are woven in Lapua, in the middle of the Ostrobothnian fields. Our own mill, the young, open-minded professionals, and the experienced older craftsmen who work there allow us to make our products a little better every day.

We use only natural raw materials. We know where our materials come from, and we also know all the working stages from thread to finished product. This produces a result we can be proud of.

Linen is one of our favourite materials. It is ecological, comfortable on the skin and easy to use. Linen absorbs moisture effectively and the textiles also dry fast!

The Masters of Linen flax we use, is grown by rainwater in France, Netherlands and Belgium, requiring no irrigation or much fertilizing.
