Products and Materials
- Where are Lapuan Kankurit products made?
We make all our linen products and nearly all of our wool products here in Lapua, Finland. In recent years, we have invested nearly 5 million euros to develop our production here in Finland. The part of our production not located in Lapua takes place in our subsidiary in Kaunas, Lithuania, which follows the same methods and sustainability standards as our production in Lapua. Less than 10% of our products are made by subcontractors. Each product’s manufacturing information can be found on our website.
- What materials do you use in your products?
We use only natural materials. Besides linen and wool we utilise organic cotton as well as Tencel, a lyocell fibre produced from cellulose. We have transitioned to using Tencel in place of cotton due to its lower environmental impact.
- How do I properly care for linen and wool products?
Follow each product’s care instructions. You can find each products’ care instructions on our website.
In the case of linen products, it’s recommended to minimise mechanical friction to ensure product longevity. Use a gentle wash cycle, avoid overloading the washing machine and use a low spin setting. Wash at 40°C unless heavily soiled. Do not tumble dry.
For wool products, airing them out in fresh air is usually enough. If washing is necessary, hand wash at a maximum of 30°C. Avoid excessive friction. Dry with ample space at room temperature.
- How can I recycle your products?
Our hope is that our customers will reuse our products in different ways. To extend the product lifespan, our textiles can be repaired and altered to fit different needs. Once a product made of natural materials reaches the end of its lifecycle, it can be recycled.
Our stores in Helsinki and Lapua accept used Lapuan Kankurit textiles for recycling. As a thank you for this responsible act, we offer a 10% discount on a single purchase.
If you’re unable to return the product to our store, deposit it in a textile recycling bin to repurposed as recycled fibre. You can also dispose of it as mixed waste to be used for energy production.
- Do you make custom-sized products?
We offer specially ordered custom-sized tablecloths, runners, and sauna covers. Custom-sized products are available from a limited fabric selection. You can view available fabrics here: Meterware & Other Textiles. Contact our sales team for a quote at +358 6 433 8300 or info(at)lapuankankurit.fi.
We do not offer custom-sized wool products at this time.
- How do I order fabric by the metre?
Visit our Meterware & Other Textiles section. Choose the desired length, add to your cart and proceed to checkout. Only full metres are available at this time. Please note that the fabric edges are not hemmed.
- I added a product to my wish list. Will I be notified when it’s back in stock?
Yes, you will receive an email notification when the product is available again. Please note that the stock is limited, and the email notification is not a guarantee of purchase. For this reason we recommend you to order the product as soon as possible.
