The Fifth Generation of Lapuan Kankurit

Eero, Elias, and Vilma Hjelt have together decided to follow in the footsteps of the previous generations.

For Elias, the path has felt natural since childhood, and he is currently studying textile engineering at Tampere University of Applied Sciences. Vilma works full-time as a Solution Development Manager at a large Finnish company. According to her, the decision to continue the family business was strongly influenced by the effective communication between the siblings and the trust they have in one another, even in difficult situations. For a long time, Eero was convinced that he would not become a successor to Lapuan Kankurit and instead pursued a career as an economist. However, a growing appreciation for the work of previous generations and for domestic textile production eventually changed his mind.

The generational transition will be carried out gradually, giving the siblings plenty of time to grow into their roles at the company. Time will tell what position each of them will ultimately take. Their shared hope is to contribute to the advancement of European textile manufacturing in the years ahead.
