Description
True to its name, the KOKKI (Finnish for “chef”) apron is the king of the kitchen. The goal of our head designer Elina Helenius was to update the traditional checkered kitchen pattern to modern day with our Jacquard technique.
Ordinarily, checkered textiles have a striped warp as their base, which forms the vertical stripes of the fabric. Thanks to our jacquard technique, the KOKKI pattern is built different: it features a double layered structure woven into solid colour warp. This double layered structure allows us to play around with the colours of the weft yarn, resulting in a checkered fabric patterned on both sides. Due to this, the towel can be used either way, depending only on your own preference.
Washed linen doesn’t necessarily need any ironing, as small wrinkles are allowed, even welcomed! Linen is a natural material that feels pleasant on the skin; it’s very absorbent and dries quickly. This is what makes linen such an excellent material for towels. 100% washed linen has been wash treated during our production process, which is how we get the outstanding absorption capacity.
Traceable natural materials
We have used Masters of Linen–certified 100 % linen yarn for both the warp and weft, spun from fully traceable long staple flax. We love flax as a material, for it is a durable, comfortable and environmentally friendly fibre.
Our flax grows with the power of rainwater in the temperate climate of central Europe, needing no irrigation. The yarns have been spun and dyed in the EU area according to the REACH regulations.

Own transparent production
The most significant part of the production is done by the fourth generation of weavers in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland. We want to be responsible for the production of our products ourselves, starting from the yarn all the way to the finished product.
The product design, material purchases, loom programming and warping as well as the pre-work stages, weaving and fabric inspection are done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland. The sewing is done in our subsidiary’s own sewing department in Kaunas, Lithuania, or in our own sewing department in Lapua. The product finishing is done in our finishing plant in Lapua, Finland.
Thanks to owning our production, we are able to design our products and processes so that our ecological footprint stays as small as possible.
Care instructions
Wash separately at 60°C in plenty of water. 40°C is also an adequate wash temperature. We recommend a small amount of neutral washing powder and to reshape whilst damp. Avoid softener and bleach. Do not tumble dry. Slow spin cycle. Linen fibres may come off the product during the wash. Check the lint filter before and after washing.Iron the textil with linen settings. The colour of natural linen becomes lighter with washing.
