SAARISTO is a classic Lapuan Kankurit design dating back 20 years, brought back into production in renewed colours and qualities.
The design originated through weaving experiments and product development at our own mill, making it an excellent example of the creative possibilities that in-house production allows. Sometimes the best ideas emerge unexpectedly. SAARISTO combines Finnish textile craftsmanship, timeless design and nature-inspired atmosphere.
We weave our sauna textiles in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland, using fully traceable raw materials: European long-staple linen and bio-organic cotton. Our unique finishing facility, located next to the weaving mill in Lapua, allows us to give these textiles a high-quality finish. This means that, with proper care, the textile will retain its shape in home washing and maintain its form wash after wash.
The sauna cover (48×150 cm) can also be used as a beautiful table runner.
Traceable natural materials
The warp yarn used in the making of this product is 100 % linen and the weft yarn is certified organic cotton. Because we want our products to have long lifecycles, we pay special attention to the quality and production of our flax fibre: the Masters of Linen–certified warp yarn we use is made of 100 % traceable European long staple flax. The yarns have been spun and dyed in the EU area according to the REACH regulations.
Own transparent production
Our own production in Lapua, Finland, enables us to utilise state-of-the-art technology and to combine the best materials together, of which this textile is a rugged example. We want to be responsible for the production of our products ourselves, starting from the yarn all the way to the finished product. This is why the most significant part of the production is done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland.
The product design, material purchases, loom programming and warping as well as the pre-work stages, weaving and fabric inspection are done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland. The sewing is done in our subsidiary’s own sewing department in Kaunas, Lithuania, or in our own sewing department in Lapua. The product finishing is done in our finishing plant in Lapua, Finland.
Care instructions
Wash the new textile before use. Wash separately at 60°C on a gentle cycle in plenty of water. 40°C is also an adequate wash temperature. Avoid softener and bleach. Do not tumble dry. Reshape and iron whilst damp. The colour of natural linen becomes lighter with washing. Shrinkage approx. 9%. Remember to take the textiles out of the sauna always after use, do not dry textiles inside sauna.
