Description
At Lapuan Kankurit, we continuously work on product development to offer our customers high-quality textiles. The ultra-light NYYTTI, developed by Elina Airikkala, is one of our material innovations. The NYYTTI towel is made from a highly absorbent, fast-drying linen–Tencel blend.
In NYYTTI towels, absorbent linen is combined with Tencel. Tencel is a European innovation made from wood fibre using environmentally responsible processes. Lapuan Kankurit brought these two fibres together to create a beautifully soft and highly absorbent towel material that takes bathing comfort to a whole new level.
NYYTTI towels are ultralight – the big bath towel measuring 95 × 180 cm weighs only 250 g! The NYYTTI towel (95 × 180 cm) is the perfect travel towel: feather-light, packs down small, and dries quickly. These towels come with their own pouch, so on the go the towel can also be used as a small travel pillow. Many customers have even wrapped the light-weight towel around their neck as a scarf! The four hanging loops give you multiple options for hanging the towel, even tying it into a small “bundle” (nyytti).
The NYYTTI towel is also an excellent choice for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. It’s lightweight, fits into a small space, dries very quickly, and stays fresh for a long time.
The NYYTTI towel makes a fantastic gift for anyone!
Traceable natural materials
Made of comfortable and breathable natural fibres: flax, Tencel and cotton. The warp is made of Tencel Lyocell and cotton fibre and the weft is made of linen yarn. Our linen, grown with the power of rainwater in Central Europe, is 100 % traceable and Masters of Linen–certified. Tencel is a European invention, a responsibly produced wood pulp fibre. Its production is FSC–certified which guarantees that the wood used as raw material in the production is responsibly sourced.
The yarns have been spun and dyed in the EU area according to the REACH regulations.
Own transparent production
Our own production in Lapua, Finland, enables us to develop new textile innovations and to combine the best materials together, of which this textile is a soft example. We want to be responsible for the production of our products ourselves, starting from the yarn all the way to the finished product. This is why the most significant part of the production is done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland.
The product design, material purchases, loom programming and warping as well as the pre-work stages, weaving and fabric inspection are done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland. The sewing is done in our subsidiary’s own sewing department in Kaunas, Lithuania, or in our own sewing department in Lapua. The product finishing is done in our finishing plant in Lapua, Finland.
