The KOIVU (“birch”) pattern is a classic designed by Marja Rautiainen. Birch trees, the most common deciduous trees in Finland, are a significant part of our country’s nature and culture. Birch holds a particularly special place in Finnish bathing and sauna traditions: it is the preferred wood for heating saunas, and traditional sauna whisks are most often made from silver birch.
