Description
The SHAKKI blanket is designed by Ida Korsström. This jacquard-woven merino wool blanket draws inspiration from the colours, patterns, and light of Florence. During her visit to an artist residency in Italy in February 2020, Ida gathered impressions from the city’s varied surfaces and architecture, as well as the subtle shades of the Italian winter landscape. This inspiration was transformed into a soft wool blanket. As a product, the SHAKKI blanket exudes comfort and carries its significance from one generation to the next. Its classic checkerboard pattern is reimagined through a gradient, creating the illusion of light and shadow.
The SHAKKI blanket is a luxurious blend of cotton and merino wool. Its triple-layered structure makes it wonderfully heavy and warm, helping the body relax quickly under its comforting weight. The blanket is finished in our production process to be exceptionally soft, making it a pleasure to touch even against bare skin.
Traceable natural materials
The blend of cotton and merino wool makes for a durable fabric. The warp yarn is made of certified organic cotton, while the weft yarn is spun in the EU area from South American, fine-fibre and soft merino wool. The wool is mulesing-free: we only work with responsible and certified spinning mills which adhere to our code of conduct. The yarns have been spun and dyed according to the REACH regulations, and they meet the requirements of the OEKO-TEX certificate.
Own transparent production
Our own production in Lapua, Finland, enables us to develop new textile innovations and to combine the best materials together. We want to be responsible for the production of our products ourselves, starting from the yarn all the way to the finished product. This is why the most significant part of the production is done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland.
The product design, material purchases, loom programming and warping as well as the pre-work stages, weaving and fabric inspection are done in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland.
