Description
The KOIVU (“birch”) pattern is a classic designed by Marja Rautiainen. Birch trees, the most common deciduous trees in Finland, are a significant part of our country’s nature and culture. Birch holds a particularly special place in Finnish bathing and sauna traditions: it is the preferred wood for heating saunas, and traditional sauna whisks are most often made from silver birch. Woven from nature’s own materials, our bath and sauna textiles celebrate the role of Finland’s national tree in everyday life.
We weave this fabric in our own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland, using fully traceable raw materials: European long-staple linen and bio-organic cotton. Our unique finishing facility, located next to the weaving mill in Lapua, allows us to give these textiles a high-quality finish. This means that, with proper care, the textile will retain its shape in home washing and maintain its form wash after wash.
