Jaana Hjelt will be stepping into the role of Lapuan Kankurit CEO, starting September 1, 2026. The current CEO Esko Hjelt will continue as the family business’ chairman of the board.
This change reflects Lapuan Kankurit’s long-term work for the future, which combines the company’s strong traditions with continuous renewal. The goal is to strengthen the business continuity for the coming decades, as well.
Marketing leader Jaana Hjelt, together with her spouse Esko Hjelt, has been developing the family business for over 20 years. By assuming the role of CEO, Jaana Hjelt’s knowledge in the areas of marketing, international business, and digital development can be utilised more effectively in leading the company forward.
“The importance of marketing and digital solutions is ever-growing. Our goal is to answer this development by strengthening the role of these areas,” Esko Hjelt shares.
Esko Hjelt continues to be an active part of the company as the chairman of the board, as well as an important mentor and expert. His broad experience as an entrepreneur, deep knowledge of textiles, and strong vision remain key strengths of Lapuan Kankurit.
The fifth generation of the family business is already actively involved in developing the business. Elias Hjelt oversees development projects, Eero Hjelt participates in the development of international growth, and Vilma Hjelt is involved with furthering digital solutions. The family business values are passed on naturally from one generation to the next.
