The Award Winner Grows and Evolves While Honoring Tradition
The Textile & Fashion Forum Helsinki, which brought together the key players in the textile and fashion industry, culminated in a gala evening where the winner of the Textile and Fashion Award was announced. This year, the industry recognition award was given to Lapuan Kankurit, while a special honorary mention was awarded to the circular economy company Rester Oy.
The Textile and Fashion Award highlights a Finnish company or actor that has successfully achieved growth through its business model, offers solutions to current challenges, or serves as a visible ambassador for the industry.
The nominees for the award were gathered through an open survey, and the winner and honorary mention recipient were selected by a jury consisting of Professor Pirjo Hirvonen from Aalto University, journalist Jenny Jännäri from Kauppalehti, Robert van de Kerkhof from Lenzing AG, and CEO Marja-Liisa Niinikoski from the Finnish Textile & Fashion association. In addition to the award recipients, the finalists included Myssyfarmi, Lennol, and Pure Waste.
The award was under the patronage of Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä.
Lapuan Kankurit, the recipient of the Textile and Fashion Award, impressed the jury with its ability and commitment to integrating its values into its operations. Lapuan Kankurit is weaving a better future, one textile at a time. The company’s nature-inspired tableware, bath, and wool products are well known in Finland and internationally. Through its example, Lapuan Kankurit demonstrates how a company can renew itself, grow, and develop while respecting its traditions and history.
